Floor Sanding and Polishing Brisbane connects Brisbane and greater Brisbane property owners with qualified, connects Brisbane property owners with licensed local floor sanders for parquetry. Tell us the rough floor area and what condition the boards are in and we'll match it to a licensed contractor covering your suburb. Firm per-square-metre price after an inspection.

Why it costs more

Parquetry runs in multiple grain directions at once, so a machine can't simply follow the boards. It demands more passes, finer abrasive and considerably more care — typically $70 to $120 a square metre against $35 to $60 for strip flooring.

The QBCC floor finishing licence class covers parquetry explicitly, which tells you it's regarded as its own skill.

Lifting and loose blocks

Individual blocks work loose, particularly where old bitumen adhesive has let go. They must be re-laid before sanding, not after.

Missing blocks can often be replaced from salvage. Matching is easier than with strip flooring because the pieces are small.

Don't let a generalist near it

This is the floor most often ruined by someone treating it like ordinary boards. Ask directly whether they've done parquetry before and ask to see it.

It's a fair question and the answer is usually revealing.
