Don't sand it yet A cupped floor sanded flat goes dished when it dries. This is the single most expensive mistake in this trade.
Get air moving, not heat Fans and ventilation. Aggressive heat dries the surface while the core stays wet and can split boards.
Photograph it before anything moves Insurers ask what happened and when, and a photo before anything was lifted answers both.
Then get a moisture reading Not a look — a meter. It's the only way to know when the floor is actually ready, and it may be weeks or months.
Boards that have cupped but not rotted usually come back as they dry and then sand normally. Patience genuinely saves floors here.
